Won Dharma Center - Meditation with Joy Retreat

When we meditate, we encounter many ups and downs; wandering thoughts, emotions, restlessness, physical pain, boredom, etc. Just as in our lives, we experience various sufferings and difficulties. By learning the proper method of sitting meditation, we will be able to practice meditation in a calmer and more peaceful way. This method will also enable us to remain focused and peaceful in our daily lives.

When we observe pain simply as pain, thoughts simply as thoughts, or difficulties simply as difficulties, they lose their power and are less of a hindrance in our daily life and practice. This is the path of meditation with joy.

Chanting meditation, along with sitting meditation, is a powerful tool towards cultivating a centered and more joyful life. Traditionally, practitioners use chanting meditation to promote a vibrating, healing resonance that aids in developing deeper concentration. The chanting meditation practices for the upcoming retreat are specifically designed to help meditators access deeper levels of meditation and joy.

This retreat provides a wonderful opportunity for both beginners and experienced practitioners. It will include complete meditation instruction for sitting, walking and chanting meditation, as well as daily dharma talks. Participants can also request a private dharma interview with one of our ministers.

*Rev. SungIn Na, who is a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist, is available during the retreat for health counseling and acupuncture treatment.
