Welcome to 2024! We’re excited to invite you to a special New Year Dharma Service. You can join the entire service in person at the temple or partially join the sessions. Except for the 3rd session, all programs are in-person only.

2024 New Year Celebration Service
Happy New Year! Welcome to 2024, Won Buddhist 109th New Year’s Day celebration ceremony. On a New Year’s Day, Master Jungsan said, "The newness of the New Year is not in the day but in our mind. Hence, the true meaning of greeting the New Year lies in exerting ourselves with a fresh new mind in our religious practice and public service.” Let us sincerely practice to attain Buddhahood with a new mind in the New Year.

Helpful details for tomorrow's event:
Where: Won Buddhism of Philadelphia (423 ABington Ave, Glenside, PA 19038)
Parking: We recommend guests park in the street, or in the parking lot of “The Cheese” playground at 2239 Parkdale Ave, Glenside, PA 19038. (It is a 3 minute walk to the venue.)
By train: if you are taking the train, please take off at the Glenside station. It takes about 20 minutes on foot from there to the venue.
When: Feel free to arrive at any point between 2PM - 8PM. In the case of rain, all the programs will be hosted indoors.
COVID-19 safety protocols: Everyone will be required to check their temperature and sign a waiver at the registration desk. We highly encourage the participants to wear masks indoors, except when eating or drinking. We will have masks on hand for those who want to wear one.

On June 4, we will have the Won Buddhist Spiritual Memorial Service. We pray in remembrance of Sotaesan's nirvana, all sages, our ancestors, relatives, family members, and teachers and all beings. We will also take this opportunity to renew our spiritual vow deep in our heart. Come join us to commemorate the Great Souls.

In Won Buddhism, Buddha's Birthday is one of the Four Major Celebrations. The celebration of Buddha's Birthday gives us an opportunity to commemorate the Buddha and Buddhists to our progress and allows us to recommit ourselves to building a brighter future for all family, communities, cultures, and religions.
